Results of direct measurement of surface fluxes in KUREX‐91 are given. It is shown that the use of standard ways of measuring main heat fluxes between the land surface and the atmosphere is not sufficient for satisfying the boundary conditions of the heat balance on the surface. It is shown that the heat imbalance increases as the surface horizontal roughness and unstationarity increases. The heat balance under conditions of developed dynamics (with the speed of near‐the‐surface wind exceeding the average) coincides in most cases. Examination of observed irregularities was carried out with the use of FIFE‐89 and other data sets.
