Macrotyloma geocarpum, which is also known as Geocarpa, groundbean, Harms seed, Kandela, Kersting's groundnut, or the potato bean, is grown in West Africa. It is currently threatened with extinction due to several factors linked to genetic erosion. Nonetheless, it is still cultivated in a few regions of Burkina. Surveys were conducted to locate and map out areas of cultivation, and ethnobotanical information was collected.
