Reductive Carbonylation of High‐Valent Oxorhenium Complexes—a New Route to Low‐Valent Carbonylrhenium Compounds

Organorhenium(III) compunds with hitherto unknown metallacyclic structures such as 2 can be synthesized by way of the title reaction from rhenium(V) precursors such as 1. In the example 1→2, a change from O,O- to C,O-coordination of the diphenylethenediolato ligand accompanies the reduction (Rphenyl).
