A re-investigation of NH3 in the vicinity of the D̃ state origin by 2+1 multiphoton ionization photoelectron spectroscopy (MPI PES) has revealed the presence of a previously unreported combination band of the C̃′ state which involves the ν1 symmetric stretch and the ν2 umbrella mode. The symmetric stretch frequency of the C̃′ state and of the ground state ion have been measured. What was once thought to be an anomalous 2+1 MPI PES of the NH3 D̃ state origin is now re-assigned to the C̃′ 1123 level.
