In Brief The aging population in the United States is growing disproportionately. As baby boomers turn 65, the number of older adults will increase from approximately 40.4 million in 2011 to 70.3 million in 2030. As the senior population expands, so too will the number of senior drivers. With an increasing role in the healthcare management of older adults, it is important for nurse practitioners (NPs) to recognize obstacles that face senior drivers and implement measures that will maintain independence and promote safety.
