Recent initiatives in several Australian states have attempted to address the difficult problem of the quality of new housing environments. One such example in Victoria is the Rescode which attempts to establish a more systematic process for managing the quality of housing. This initiative is used as a vehicle to reflect on the generic problems and possibilities with and for quality measurement in planning.
