Seasonal changes in cold hardiness of flower buds from two cultivars of apricot ( Prunus armeniaca L.) were determined by artificial freezing during three winter‐spring seasons. During these three seasons, cold hardiness was correlated better with mean maximum daily temperature for the 7 days before measurements than with mean minima. Electrical impedance measurements of apricot stem tissue were correlated with temperature, stem diameter, and LT50 of flower buds. Impedance measurements could be used for determining general trends in cold hardiness throughout winter.
