Increased Toxicity of Na3Ca DTP When Given by Protracted Administration

Abstract

Protracted administration greatly enhanced the toxicity of Na3Ca DTP in beagles. Injections of 5.8 micro moles/kg of Na3Ca DTP, given every 5 hr, were fatal as early as 4 days after the onset of treatment. The most serious lesions were induced in the epithelial lining and related structures of the intestinal tract. Protracted administration of equal molar amounts of Na3Zn DTP was found to be much less toxic.
