An intense and sharp line at 1.36 eV is observed in the low-temperature photoluminescence (PL) and photoconductivity (PC) spectra of heat-treated InP. The PL spectrum shows a rich phonon-related sideband involving both local and lattice phonons. The results of Zeeman, stress and photoluminescence excitation measurements on the PL spectra are presented. It is deduced that the emission arises from recombination of excitons bound to a deep neutral donor (T d symmetry). The bound exciton state has spin J= 3 / 2 , g h =0.59+or-0.03 and the final neutral donor ground state has J= 1 / 2 , g e =1.85+or-0.09. No diamagnetic shift is observed.
