The multidimensional gas chromatographic group-type analysis of paraffins, naphthenes, and aromatics (PNA analysis) in hydrocarbon mixtures is optimized with respect to the speed of analysis. The use of nonlinear temperature programming, desorption of aromatics in backflush, and optimization of the operating conditions of the individual columns results in a 50% reduction of the analysis time.
