After our humanitarian mission during April and May, 2024, with Medical Aid for Palestinians and the International Rescue Committee to Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al Balah in central Gaza, we can attest to the catastrophic state of health-care provision. The deliberate targeting of hospitals has left 12 of 36 hospitals partly functioning; all but three of those 12 are small health centres.1 We heard testimony from hospital staff confirming reports of Israeli forces targeting health-care workers.
