Total cross sections for single ionization of the target are calculated by using the Continuum Distorted Wave-Eikonal Initial State approximation, at intermediate and high collision energies. The reactions studied are C 4+ , C 5+ , C 6+ , O 6+ , O 7+ and O 8+ on H and C 6+ , O 6+ , O 7+ and O 8+ on He. Comparisons with recommended and experimental data are given.
