Inner beauty: The titanosilicate molecular sieve ETS-10 has TiO32− quantum wires (QWs) of varying length and local density along the [110] and [10] directions (see picture). Analysis of the distribution of the QWs within a crystal using laser-scanning confocal polarized micro-Raman spectroscopy shows that they are not distributed evenly but in a symmetrical manner in an interesting pattern.
