Experimental results of trapping of helium to krypton and krypton-vacancy complexes in tungsten are compared with results of atomistic calculations and results of a model derived to describe the filling of helium traps. The comparison leads to the conclusion that the trapping of about seven helium atoms to substitutional krypton leads to the creation of an additional vacancy. From the data also follows an experimental value for the self interstitial formation energy of 7 to 9 eV in tungsten.
