Zeolites were evaluated with respect to their source, particle size, and preparation method on male broiler performance. In the experiment, 3600 male chicks were randomized into 72 pens using 12 rations replicated 6 times. All birds (except treatment 12) received a basal ration at 1 day of age. Treatment 12 received a 1% zeolite ration at 1 day of age. At 21 days of age, all birds were put on their respective treatment rations. was a difference in feed efficiency at 21 days of age. Treatment 12 (1% zeolite) fed at day 1 gave a significant (P≤.05) difference in feed efficiency at 21 days of age. No significant differences in mortality, shank pigmentation, or litter moisture percent were found at 50 days of age. The addition of certain zeolites to male broiler rations at 21 days of age gave significant (P≤.05) improvements in body weight gains and feed efficiency.
