Orius insidiosus females, collected in the fall, were maintained for 20 days at four photoperiod and temperature regimes (8D:16L, 25°C; 8D:16L, 12°C; 12D:12L, 25°C; 12D:12L, 12°C). None of the females maintained in fall-simulated conditions (12D:12L, 12°C) laid eggs, whereas all females kept under long-day and warm temperatures (8D:16L, 25°C) broke diapause and laid eggs, suggesting that this bug undergoes a facultative reproductive diapause. Of the females maintained at 8D:16L, 12°C and 12D:12L, 25°C, only 25 and 20%, respectively, laid eggs within the 20-day experimental penod.
