The mechanism for the photooxidation of NO over hydrogen plasma-treated TiO2 under visible light irradiation was studied by in situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. It was found that the oxidation of NO over plasma-treated TiO2 under visible light proceeded consecutively as NO → NO2− → NO3−, where the oxidation process of NO2− to NO3− was newly created by irradiation of visible light.
