The partition coefficient of 133 Xe in blood and brain was determined directly in human tissues at varying levels of haematocrit. The mean partition coefficient for 133 Xe between white matter and blood was 0·171 and the mean partition coefficient between grey matter and blood was 0·107 at haematocrits of 50%. A statistical comparison was made between these results and those of other workers.
