Therapeutic patient education (TPE) is increasingly seen as an essential part of managing atopic dermatitis (AD), helping to connect clinical advice with real‐world adherence. This review aims to summarise current TPE approaches in AD, identify ongoing barriers to adherence, and examine innovations like digital health, shared decision‐making (SDM), and social media use. It includes a narrative review of existing research, such as position papers from the European Task Force on Atopic Dermatitis and recent implementation studies. Hospital‐based TPE models improve outcomes but have limited accessibility. Barriers such as Topical Corticosteroid Concern, information overload, and psychosocial stress continue to hinder adherence. Newer models—such as hybrid digital programs, community‐based interventions, and moderated online networks—show potential for broader use and customisation. Based on the evidence reviewed and the authors' collective clinical experience, priority recommendations are proposed to support the implementation of scalable, patient‐centred TPE in routine clinical practice.
