This paper presents a scenario for Kepler's supernova remnant whereby its emission is mostly due to the interaction of the blast wave with dense circumstellar matter, whose distribution is in turn determined by the interaction with a diffuse interstellar medium. The kind of observed asymmetry is easily explained if Kepler's supernova progenitor was a runaway object, subject to strong mass loss. A mass loss with Mw ≡ 5×10-4(M_sun;yr-1) (km s-1) is estimated for the progenitor. The runaway nature of the progenitor is discussed, and similarities with known runaway objects are presented.
