Aerobic group training boosts exercise capacity by ~13 watts in elderly post-coronary patients.
Why the study?
The effects of aerobic group training on muscular endurance and recovery in elderly patients after an acute coronary event were not well studied.
Does a 3-month aerobic group training programme improve exercise capacity, muscular endurance, and recovery in elderly patients after an acute coronary event?

Does a 3-month aerobic group training programme improve exercise capacity, muscular endurance, and recovery in elderly patients after an acute coronary event?
Absolute Event Rate: 19% vs 6%
p-value: p=<0.001

Tollbäck et al. (2001) conducted an RCT in Recent coronary events (n=31). Aerobic group training vs. Control group was evaluated on Exercise capacity increase (watts) (p=<0.001). A 3-month aerobic group training program increased exercise capacity by 19 watts (p<0.001) in elderly patients with recent coronary events, but did not significantly improve muscular endurance.
