This research explores young people (YP)’s perspectives on school-based Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) in Northern Ireland (NI). This mixed-methods study comprised of an anonymous online questionnaire (n = 604) and six follow up interviews with sixth-form students (n = 8). Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to describe the nature of RSE provision reported and explore if young people’s views differ as a function of gender identity, sexual orientation, or type of school attended. Thematic analysis was used to explore young people’s views in their own words from both interview data and open-ended survey responses.
