To simplify the weighing of individual freight wagons on sidings, a measurement system is being designed that will determine the weight by measuring the traction force and acceleration of the shunting locomotive. To determine the influence of various resistances on the measurement result, a sensitivity analysis was carried out using a multi-body simulation model featuring an Eanos freight wagon and a road-rail vehicle. The qualitative influence of various parameters is shown individually. The results of the sensitivity analysis show that the condition of the freight wagon and driving behaviour have less of an impact, whereas the influence of the tracks and the wind must be taken into account when determining the weight. Based on these results, a measurement system can be set up and tested in real-world conditions in further studies.
