The overarching goal of WP3 is to develop design principles and recommendations for larp and larp-adjacent activities to support and develop democratic engagement. The work package develops design principles and exemplars of larp designs based on deliberative events that support democratic engagement, deliberation, and understanding. The outcomes of the work package are expected to be of two types; design principles and design exemplars, supported by experimental and evaluative studies. This deliverable covers the methodological approach underlying the experimental design work carried out within WP3, the (current state of) the design projects pursued, and preliminary results from early studies carried out within the work package. The studies in focus in this deliverable are: Design and assessment of the larp The Assembly, which was the first larp completed as part of the WP3 work Design and trial of a range of innovative larp 'snippets’ Embodied debrief design studies Semi-controlled experiments on critical design choices A nethnography of political parody role-play in social media
