Organisational deterioration may develop when established operating models, resource commitments and strategic practices persist despite changes in the conditions under which they were originally effective. This technical note proposes six heuristic indices for examining strategic rigidity, adaptation delay, dependence on established revenue sources, strategy–execution alignment, the relative duration of strategy formulation and implementation, and the allocation of cash between routine commitments and transformation activities. The proposed indices are the Corporate Hubris Index (CHI), Strategic Delay Coefficient (SDC), Future Blindness Index (FBI), Execution–Strategy Gap Index (ESGI), Strategy Fading Coefficient (SFC), and Budgetary Bottleneck Coefficient (BBC). Each index is defined through a mathematical expression and operational variables, with attention to interpretation, boundary conditions and limitations. These indices are exploratory diagnostic constructs. Their mathematical specification does not, by itself, establish empirical validity, predictive accuracy or causal relationships. They should be applied using consistent definitions, transparent data classification and appropriate contextual evidence.
