SUMMARY Cases of multiple cutaneous abscesses due to Mycobacterium borstelense and M. abscessus are described. One occurred in Belgium after insulin injections and the other as a result of a wound infection sustained in Central Africa. The differentiation of M. borstelense from M. abscessus, M. fortuitum and M. peregrinum is discussed.
