Summary: A biparietal diameter (BPD) chart is presented based on an Australian population whose gestational age was confirmed by ultrasound early in pregnancy. The data show the gestational age to be predicted to within ± 7 days until 16 weeks and ± 10 days until 20 weeks gestation. Some of the reasons for the wide discrepancies in previously published charts are discussed, and the methods used in this study to avoid repetition of such errors detailed.
