Key result
Successful PTCA linked to ~29% reduction in QT dispersion at 1 month in angina.
Why the study?
QT dispersion is suggested to predict ventricular arrhythmia in CAD patients, but the short-term effect of PTCA on QTd in CAD patients without prior myocardial infarct was unclear.
Observational (n=84)
PTCA may acutely alter QTd in stable angina; this Level 5 observation leaves open any role in arrhythmia risk stratification.

Choi et al. (1998) conducted an observational in Coronary artery disease with angina (n=84). Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) vs. Baseline was evaluated on QT dispersion (QTd). Successful PTCA significantly decreased QT dispersion at 1 month (from 51.3 to 36.3 msec) in angina patients with no history of myocardial infarction.
