A computer method for aid in biological classification based on graph theory is presented. The program not only defines hierarchical clusters but discovers intermediate forms and provides measures of internal affinity and external isolation for each cluster. The theoretical biological justification for this technique is given. A test of the method is presented, using 31 specimens selected from different genera of the subtribe Oncidiinae of the Orchidaceae.
