Isolated Fiedler's myocarditis presents with peripheral emboli and multichamber intracardiac thrombi.
Why the study?
Acute isolated myocarditis is a rare disease characterized by inflammation of the myocardium as the primary acute lesion, with unclear etiology including various infections and toxins.

Engelhardt and Bruno,2in a recent review of the literature, collected nine cases from the American and 46 additional cases from the world literature. Various infections have been suspected as causing this disease such as acute upper respiratory infections, influenza, pneumonia, measles, virus infections, syphilis; also toxins have been suggested as etiologic agents circulating in the blood stream from diphtheria or streptococcus infections. Likewise implicated are vitamin...Bibliography1. FIEDLER A: Über akute interstitielle Myokarditis, Centralbl. f. inn. Med., 1900, cci, 212. Google Scholar2. Robinson et al. (1945) conducted a case report in Isolated (Fiedler's) myocarditis (n=1). A case of isolated (Fiedler's) myocarditis was reported, presenting initially with arterial emboli in the extremities and terminally with mural thrombi in three heart chambers.
