Intrauterine glucose environment is a key determinant of foetal growth.Research data on the effect of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) on early postnatal linear growth in the offspring are limited and inconsistent. This study examined early childhood growth in the offspring of mothers with GDM and compared it with that of the offspring of mothers with normal glucose tolerance during pregnancy. We examined a cohort of 135 children (71 boys) born as singletons between 2004 and 2008 in North Savo, Eastern Finland.
