The price of a flight from the United States to Spain is known mainly from commercial fare-search averages that are rarely set against official traffic data or the statutory charges inside a ticket. We combine fare-search figures fetched in September 2026 with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics T-100 International Segment data for 1990–2025, US tax and fee schedules, the 2026 tariff guide of the Spanish airport operator Aena and Aena's traffic releases. Round trips from the United States to Spain averaged USD 747 over the past month, the lowest of six European destinations compared. Over 12 months the four main Spanish airports averaged from USD 747 (Madrid) to USD 927 (Palma de Mallorca), and the national monthly median ranged from USD 411 in November to USD 661 in June. From the main airports of 45 states the average to Madrid ranged from USD 648 (New York JFK) to USD 1,335 (Wichita). US taxes and fees came to USD 75.13 per nonstop round trip, and with Aena's passenger charge at least USD 96.87 on a trip returning from Madrid, 13.0% of the Madrid average fare. Nonstop passengers between the two countries reached 5,640,668 in 2025, the highest in 36 years, 15.1% above 2019 and 4.90 times 1990, on 24,568 flights. Madrid and Barcelona handled 96.5% of the flights, and Iberia and American together carried 65.9% of the passengers. The fare data are a commercial source without a stated sample; all other inputs are official and public.
