Travellers pay for documents at two thresholds: an identity card accepted at domestic airport checkpoints and, for international trips, a visa or electronic travel authorization. We compile fee schedules, regulations and official statistics for both. An Arizona Travel ID, the state's REAL ID-compliant card, costs USD 25 for up to eight years, or USD 3.13 per year of validity, against USD 6.50 for a US passport card and USD 16.50 for a passport book; since 1 February 2026 a traveller without an accepted ID can pay USD 45 for a ten-day TSA ConfirmID window. Arizona had issued more than 3 million Travel IDs by July 2025, 490,023 of them in the four months around the start of enforcement. Nationally, REAL ID-compliant cards rose from about 33% of licences in 2019 to 56.42% in January 2024. For short visits, fees in force on 25 September 2026 ranged from about USD 5 for Canada's eTA to USD 185 for a US visitor visa, which has risen 2.85 times since before November 2002; the US ESTA cost USD 40.27, 2.88 times its 2010 price, and a USD 250 Visa Integrity Fee is enacted but not yet collected. The Schengen visa costs EUR 90 (USD 103.18), up by half since 2010, and requires medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000. The United States issued 10,969,936 nonimmigrant visas in fiscal 2024, 77.1% of them visitor visas. Schengen applications in 2025 were about 72% of the 2019 level, while the refusal rate, 14.6%, was about three times that of 2013. All inputs are public.
