Low phase noise all-optical oscillator using quantum dash modelocked laser

The potential of a quantum dash based modelocked laser to achieve a low phase noise oscillator by means of an optical self-injection loop is demonstrated. A phase noise as low as −105 dBc/Hz at an offset frequency of 100 kHz has been achieved with such a configuration.
