Multidimensional disease mapping has emerged as a useful tool in social epidemiology. Despite the existence of several specifications for modeling the relationship between different outcomes, there is still a need for a new strategy focused on comparing the spatial risk patterns of different population subgroups. This paper introduces a new approach for detecting differences in spatial risk patterns between populations at risk, using suicide-related emergency calls to study suicide risks in the Valencian Community (Spain). In addition, reproducible code is provided so that users can copy, implement, and replicate the proposed analysis.
