Key result
BiV pacing rescues inotrope- and ventilator-dependent refractory heart failure post-CABG.
Why the study?
Resynchronisation of conduction delay by biventricular pacing is a proven therapy for selected heart failure patients, but its use as a bail out after bypass surgery is less documented.

May inform bailout biventricular pacing in refractory post-bypass HF; Level 5 case leaves open need for prospective trials.
Resynchronisation of intra- and interventricular conduction delay by biventricular pacing has become a proven therapy for selected heart failure patients. We present a case of biventricular pacing, used with great success, as a 'bail out' for a patient with refractory congestive heart failure following by-pass surgery.

Sanjiv Petkar (2005) studied this question. Biventricular pacing was successfully used as a bail-out therapy for a ventilator- and inotrope-dependent patient with refractory heart failure following bypass surgery.
