A method is presented for overlaying thematic data on a wireframe perspective plot of a digital elevation model (DEM). High-quality color separations were plotted on an electrostatic plotter using conventional pen controls to provide eight colors with different line densities and patterns for the overlay. The utility of the method was demonstrated by producing a plot of land use and land cover data registered to a DEM and by producing an annual average termperature overlay corrected by the elevation values and latitude of the same DEM grid cells used to create the perspective plot base.
