This study presents a statistical approach to developing a formula for predicting the effective thermal conductivity of porous media. In terms of the statistical view, heat flow through a porous medium can be imposed by three mechanisms: solid, fluid, and solid-fluid in series. The method was found to agree well with experimental data available in the literature.
