Warm water foot soaking lowers systolic and diastolic blood pressure in elderly stage 1 hypertension.
Why the study?
Hypertension is the most common condition in the elderly with high risk, and non-pharmacological therapies for blood pressure control need evaluation.
Does warm water foot soaking reduce blood pressure in elderly individuals with stage 1 hypertension not on medication?
Case Report (n=4)
No
Does warm water foot soaking reduce blood pressure in elderly individuals with stage 1 hypertension not on medication?
Warm water foot soaking over 3 days resulted in a modest reduction of blood pressure in a small case series of elderly patients with unmedicated stage 1 hypertension.
Should not yet change practice in stage 1 hypertension; hypothesis-generating for nonpharmacologic BP reduction pending controlled trials.

Fara Aristya Prisma (2026) conducted a case report in Stage 1 Hypertension (n=4). Warm water foot soaking vs. Baseline (Pre-intervention) was evaluated on Blood pressure reduction. Warm water foot soaking for 15 minutes daily over three consecutive days consistently reduced both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in four elderly individuals with stage 1 hypertension.
