Summary In this paper we provide the first description of a staminate flower of Pandanus hornei, endemic Pandanus to the Seychelles. The discovery of staminate flower in this species reinforces the idea that Pandanus hornei is a member of subg. Martellidendron, a group which appears to be at a basal position within the genus. We discuss the taxonomic and biogeographical implication of this discovery.
