This study develops a finite element and fatigue analysis framework to connect system-level structural response in a coldformed steel (CFS) roof system with member-level fatigue demand and fatigue-informed service-life information. A detailed one-bay finite element model consisting of CFS joists supporting profiled steel roof decking was developed in Abaqus. The complete roof model is used to capture load redistribution through the deck, joists, bracing, connections, and adjacent structural components under representative environmental loading. Displacement and rotation histories obtained from the system-level analysis are then transferred to isolated steel-member models, and the resulting stress histories are evaluated in Fe-Safe. A representative wind uplift loading case is used to demonstrate the complete Abaqus-to-Fe-Safe workflow. Fatigue analyses were completed for isolated web-member models, and the results showed substantial variation in predicted fatigue life among member categories, with critical fatigue locations generally concentrated near member-end regions. The developed framework provides a basis for converting system-level structural response into member-level fatigue information that can subsequently inform maintenance and replacement scenarios in life-cycle assessment and life-cycle cost analysis.
