This deliverable is the first report from WP2 of SYNTHIA, which is developing and implementing thesustainability plan forthe project’s intended resource platform forsynthetic data and synthetic data generation.D2.1 is intended to provide initial insights to guide the rest of the project work packages as well as WP2 onwhat kind of platform with what features is feasible to produce by the end of the project, aligned with whatdownstream users of the platform might most importantly need and value. This deliverable reports on three initial investigations. First, byway of background, it considers the positioningof SYNTHIA alongside other current European Commission projects in synthetic data, as initial results of abroader cross project comparison that will be published as a paper in late 2025. Secondly it explores throughwork package leader interviews the most important project results that are expected to become part of thesustainable platformand contribute to its value. Thirdly, a survey of external actors involved in creating andusing synthetic data, admittedly small in scale, gives initial insights into what future platform users might mostwant and how they might consider paying for it.
