Female workers are three‐fifths of the total workforce working in the readymade garment (RMG) industry in Bangladesh. Although their contribution to the economy is significant, there is lack of information about their perceived quality of life and associated workplace‐related factors. Therefore, the present study was aimed to assess quality of life of female RMG workers and its association with workplace‐related factors (e.g., compliance to standard in workplace recommended by stakeholders, work–family conflict, job stress and job satisfaction). Using snowball sampling technique, a total of 540 female RMG workers from different parts of Chattogram city were recruited and interviewed. Latent class analysis results showed that one‐third of the participants perceived their quality of life as poor. Structural equation modelling results showed job stress was negatively associated with all domains of quality of life (physical, psychological, social, environmental, general health perception and overall quality of life), β ranging from −0.140 to −0.091 ( p ≤ 0.030). On the other hand, job satisfaction was positively associated with five domains, excluding the environmental domain ( β range: 0.129–0.217, p ≤ 0.001). Compliance was positively associated with the physical, psychological, environmental and overall quality of life domains ( β range: 0.102−0.348, p ≤ 0.005). Work–family conflict (both directions) was significantly associated with the psychological, social and environmental domains and general health perception ( β range: −0.190 to −0.089, p ≤ 0.041). These study findings would be helpful to government, international policymakers and other stakeholders to redesign existing policies to support better quality of life of the large portion of the workers working in RMG sectors in Bangladesh.
