X-ray-diffraction studies were performed on lithium. The lattice constant, determined from CoK alpha , (222) and CoK alpha , K alpha /sub 2/(321) lines, was 3.51004 plus or minus 0.00041A at 25 deg C. Theoretical density was determined to be 0.533 g/cc and the Li-Li bond density for coordination number 8 is 3.0398A. (C.J.G.)
