The present study consisted of 1,626 adolescents from 13 public schools in a southern metropolitan area. The purpose was to examine how much overlap there was in participation in smoking cigarettes, getting drunk on alcohol, use of marijuana, and having had sexual intercourse with log-linear procedures. There was significant overlap in involvement in all of the behaviors studied, and implications of these results for clinical work were discussed.
