Trigonium zonatulatum (Greville) A. Mann, originally described as Triceratium zonatulatum Greville, was previously known solely from the Indo-Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Bering Sea. Here, we report the first record of this diatom species from the Atlantic Ocean (Caribbean Sea), based on material collected at Boca Chica Beach, Dominican Republic. A single valve was examined under light microscopy and agrees with Greville’s (1865) original and subsequent descriptions of T. zonatulum . This record substantially extends the known geographic distribution of this species and provides new evidence of its occurrence in the Caribbean Sea.
