This paper examines air pollution in Nigeria and its impact on infant and child mortality. This study is expedient because whenever air becomes polluted and human beings dwell in that environment, it becomes hazardous to even breath in air. The condition has even more devastating consequences when infants and children are involved. It is in view of these indisputable facts that the writers explored into the concept of air pollution using mostly documented materials. They portrayed the situation of air pollution in our continent of Africa and narrowed it down to what obtains in some parts of Nigeria. They also posited the conceptual framework on which their research was based and then proposed some pragmatic recommendations which if implemented could reduce the menace of air pollution. These include embracing afforestation programmes as evidenced by aggressive planting of trees to absorb carbon dioxide, banning of rickety vehicles that pollute our roads, better sanitation in our households and timely vaccination of our new born babies among other measures.
