Fine tuning of the nonbonding FF distances, by bridge length variation and suitable substituents, in a series of difluorometa- (1) and -paracyclophanes led to a new quantitative description of distance-dependent 19F, 19F through-space spin–spin coupling. This will be useful for structural studies of di- and oligofluorinated compounds in solution.
