FIELD tests were used to evaluate a PTO driven powered disk tiller. This research was carried out as a joint project between Mie University and Michigan State University. The American field tests focused on tillage performance to explore application of the implement under Michigan field conditions. The powered disk tiller has good ability to cut through crop residue and weeds compared with an unpowered disk implement. It also has increased soil pulverization and improved soil penetration ability compared with an unpowered disk implement. The Japanese field tests focused on measurement of draft and power requirements. The draft and power requirements were influenced by ground speed, PTO rpm, tillage depth and soil conditions.
