In this study, we reported the stress-strain behaviour of the predominantly amorphous anodic coating (alumino-silicate based) on additively manufactured Al-10Si-M g alloy, with the help of combined treatment of nanoindentation experiments and finite element (FE) modelling. With the present approach, the elasto-plastic properties (σy, n) of the anodic coating were quantified as (1200 MPa, 0.12) and (1900MPa, 0.07) for plan and cross-sections, respectively. In addition, the study reveals the equivalent von-Mises stresses and plastic strains generated in the coating for both the plan- and cross- sections.
